Yes at last, this is the last blog of the semester! I honestly believe that blogging is not one of my special talents but I think this is a great way of communicating. I really thought that  having a blog in this class was awesome. It really lets you express your own opinion and thoughts about certain topics the way that you want to explain it. I like that fact that not only are my teachers reading them but also my classmates and sometimes just random people (My boyfriend) trying to see if I say anything bad that might affect them  lol! I bet he's reading this one as well (Luv you). I absolutely think that blogging should be required for  other classes as well because it gives students the opportunity to talk about certain issues that affect their lives and  you they can discover that they are not the only people who thinks the way they do. And also some opposition to certain topics broaden your  view about the topic tremendously. The conclude this all I have to say is that I give blogging four thumbs up (big toes included)!

I think I have reached a point of school over load! I don't ever want to take more that 20 credit hours ever again! LOL! Okay but  the truth is that this class is very interesting. I think I've learned more in this class than all of my other classes combined. This weeks topic was very interesting about the state, law, and social policy. Throughout the entire I just kept thinking about an issue today. This issue is about Hilary Clinton running for president. At first I was pretty skeptical about it but now that I have taken the time and actually heard her views  about the government I feel she is a strong candidate. She is not being taken seriously though because of the fact that she is a woman and was first wife to a previous president. All that shouldn't matter what should matter is her qualifications and what she could bring to the table.

Another issue the stood out was homosexuals in the army. I did not know that we still give discharges  even after President Bill Clinton established the "Don't ask don't tell" policy. This is because this policy has very few support because some people in society think homosexuals pose a national security threat. I just think that military people think that they will be hit on by homosexuals that would make them feel uncomfortable. But that is dumb because people who enlist enlist for a purpose not to meet men and women to hit on. Everyone who enlist enlist because they think they have what it takes to  be in the military like discipline and that is their main priority so how can anyone be a national threat if they are volunteering to defend ones country.

Violence toward women will always hit close to home. It is true that everyone at least knows one woman this has happened to. I am not the exception, I never like to talk about it to poeple I don't know and especially not on the internet for the whole world to know but i just know if certain happenings had not happened I would not be the person I am today. I just don't understand why violence against women is a major issue still today the patriarchy is just getting stronger and stronger. Yes we do have programs that help women and children that were beaten or raped but  this doesn't solve the actual problem. This problem goes way back to someones upbringing and nowadays parents spend less time with their children because of financial neccessities and other circumstances, what does this say about the future adults in our society that are highly influenced by violent video games and television? I think violence against women is going to get worse as we progress if we do not stand up and say something about it. Women usually do not want to say andything about spousal abuse because they are afraid of the consiquences that their spouse will face. Also immidiate action is not taken by police enforcment when a spousal violence arises, yes they might take them to jail to stay overnight but what is to say about the next day. The spouse is going to have a vengence toward the other spouse and may lead to seriouse injuries or death. this is where the government is slacking and women are as well. We need to realize that once a spouse starts  beating or battering us we need to find a way out as quickly as possible before it leads to the worst. Yes some women do get out of it but others do not because they are scared. We just have to increase our own self value in order to accomplish a healthy lifestyle.

Well I'm really not sure if we have to post a new blog this week but I sure did comment on someone else's from UNT Krista Garner. So i'm going to just go for it and blog! So I need to come up with a question....ummm. I think I got it! I  went to the Halloween block party last weekend and it is hosted on Cedar Springs also known to contain gay clubs and bars and this struck up a question. I wanted to know why gay couple are conforming to society? It felt that like every gay couple that I saw one person would play the role of  a man and another the role of a woman. For example I saw two guys dressed as condiments one as salt and the other as pepper. The salt had a little red bow on top while the pepper had a tie around its neck. I don't see the need of that and I really don't understand why they do that. I support homosexuality but I don't  think they have to conform with societies rules about men and women. Be happy dress up as two bulls or two cows there is nothing wrong with it.

The topics for this week were very interesting. I never really took the time to really take in consideration the women's workforce movement. Through watching the  film I saw first hand what women experienced in the workplace. We now take advantage of the fact that if someone simply looks at us wrong we simply report them, back then they were groped and ridiculed and there weren't any laws or rules that prohibited this. Women in the workplace has increased tremendously after World War II, this was a time that placed woman's foot at the door of the paid labor force. This happening proved that women were also capable of preforming any type of work that ranged from housework to building aircrafts and tanks for the war.

The job of a housewife was a main priority for all women before the 20th century. Tending to their husbands and kids were the woman's main priorities. Now a day women are waiting o get married and have kids so it is  necessary for them to work in order to keep afloat in today's world.

I still believe sexual harassment is a major issue in the workplace now. It is not as obvious as it use to be but it still does arise. Women are afraid to speak up and report any type of this wrongdoing. This happens because women are afraid to admit that this does happen and therefore if they report this they think they will loose their job or respect from their coworkers. Now a days sexual harassment not only comes form the opposite sex but also the same sex. People are being more open about their sexuality and this causes confusion in the workplace. Being open in your workplace about your sexuality is fine but hitting on your coworkers is still not right. Everyone should respect everyone else and the golden rule should always be followed.
